INTEREST AND MATERIAL: WHICH ONE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING?

Introduction
            Teaching is kind of activity that is never far away from education. It can be in formal on informal education. In delivering the material a teacher needs activity of teaching. Hopkins in Davis, James R (1997) ever defined teaching as the "the interaction of a student and a teacher over a subject. In means, teaching also includes another aspect that is called teacher and student. If teaching learning process without student or teacher it will not be an interaction. As the result, teaching learning process will not run well. How come, a teacher in the classroom be able to teach if the object that is being taught in none.
            In teaching learning process, if the student and teacher have already been in the classroom, the problem has not been off at all. Some kinds of problems appear as the big burden for the teacher. It can be happened to all subjects including English teaching. In teaching English generally has the same problem; it is about student’s interest. Most of students dislike English, since it is supposed as one of difficult subject.
            For instance, if an English teacher comes to the classroom the students tend to say “games, sir” while the teacher wants to explain the material. As the result, if the teacher does not go with their interest, they will ignore teacher’s explanation. Dramatically, if the teacher goes with the students’ interest, it means the material will be avoided. Therefore, the teachers should consider both of those problems wisely.
            Actually, as English teacher the main job is how to deliver the material and the student is able to understand and apply it. In another side, teacher wants the students have high interest to the class.
